Central Park Zoo

The Central Park Zoo is located near the southeast corner of Central Park. The entrance to the zoo is at 64th Street & 5th Avenue.

 

Central Park Zoo is year-round, little kids friendly and an easily walkable zoo. Although a quite impressive amount of animals lives here, it takes an hour and a half on average to walk it through. Famous for a very diverse range of animals from sea lions to snow leopards enjoys their comfortable home here.  Animals from tropical, temperate, and polar parts of the world are all being neighbors in this prime Upper East Side location. 

The sea lion pool in the center courtyard is state – of – the – art and deserves a special word. Don’t miss The Sea Lion Feedings daily at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. The glass walls of the pool offer a glimpse of their underwater acrobatics and makes interaction with sea lions very exciting.

 

In the indoors parts of the zoo you can meet the penguins, seals, and birds freely flying in their tropical – paradise – like home.

Tisch Children’s Zoo.

Tisch Children’s Zoo inside the Central Park zoo is an especially cute addition for the little ones.Furthermore, you can feed alpacas, goats and other farm animals here.

General Admission ticket includes

  • Tisch Children’s Zoo
    • $14 Adults / $9 Children (3-12) & free (2 & under) / $11 for seniors (65+)
    • extra $7 for entry to the 4-D Theater (ages 3 and up)
    • You cannot buy GA tickets on their website. They are only sold at the ticket gate.

“Total Experience” ticket includes

  • the Main Zoo
  • Tisch Children’s Zoo
  • entry to the 4-D Theater
    • $20 Adults / $15 Children (3-12) & free (2 & under) / $17 for seniors (65+)

You can purchase tickets online or at the entrance.

Hours of operation.

  • April to October: Monday-Friday 10 am-5 pm. Weekends & Holidays: 10 am-5:30 pm
  • November-March: Daily 10:00 am – 4:30 pm (16:30)

If you are travelling here by subway:

  • N, R, or Q trains to the Fifth Avenue/59th Street station and walk north four blocks to 64th Street;
  • 6 train to the 68th Street/Hunter College station, walk west 3 blocks to Fifth Avenue, then take a left and walk four blocks south
