Cooper Hewitt Design Museum is located on the East 91 street in Andrew Carnegie historic mansion, right across the street from Central Park. This museum is the nation’s only museum dedicated to historic and contemporary design. 

The Cooper Hewitt Museum truly makes design a fascinating experience. Their permanent collection, as well as unique temporary exhibitions and installations will be interesting to those who are into design, fashion and technology. 

The museum has a collection of over 210,000 design objects and Interactive galleries visitors get to explore the collection digitally. Moreover, you can and engage in the design process in the Immersion Room and sketch your own design. Then, you can project them onto the walls at full scale to see your impact.

Additionally, the beautiful public garden of Cooper Hewitt deserves a special word here. It is hidden from often crowded with tourists streets. The nice sitting area, and interactive design objects can be enjoyed in their enclosed yard. You can get some good coffee and sandwiches in their small cafe, which makes it a perfect spot to relax.

 

Price: Normally $7–16. However, admission is free of charge for all through October 31, 2021, thanks to generous support from Cooper Hewitt’s Board of Trustees. Timed-entry tickets are required to visit the museum.

Thursday–Monday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Tuesday–Wednesday, closed.
Thanksgiving Day, closed.
Christmas Day, closed.
